Lukas is always running now... and I love his little run. His development in the past 12 - or even 6 - months is phenomenal, and he's seems to know it. And yet, he'll lie in our arms sometimes, pretending to be a baby, with his thumb held to his mouth, and also loves to listen to and feel the baby in Mama's belly.

The statements he makes never fail to make us smile, and it's obvious that he's growing up fast and there's no turning back. A couple days ago, I was trying to take a nap on the way back from London (stopping at a gas station between Brussels and home), and suddenly Lukas woke up, exclaiming, "What are you doing, Mama?" ... "What are you doing, Mama?" ... "What are you doing, Mama?" But he says it in the sweetest little voice ... it just makes me melt. Needless to say, that quickly put an end to my napping.

Last night he was being "naughty" while we were attempting to get him ready for bed, so I turned away from him and began doing something else. He ran up, saying,
"Sorry! EXCUSE ME - I said, Sorry, Mama!"

And yesterday was lots of fun. He went to his preschool, we ate, and he took a nap, and when he woke up, we headed out to the "Vlindertuin" Butterfly Garden in a neighboring town. We then spent a couple hours wandering throw butterflies, drinking hot chocolate in and exploring the garden, playing on the playground, and talking to the two (monstrous) resident floppy-eared bunnies.

When Papa got home we prepared dinner, put in a funny family movie, and ate our cottage pie on the couch.

It's days like that will forever be etched in my memory... even in the absence of photos. Lukas is becoming a wonderful little man, and a very special friend, and we love him dearly.
