Tomorrow Austin and I will embark on an incredible journey. I think I must be crazy. But I know the payoff will be worth it. Austin has a clinical evaluation with Dr. Randi Hagerman of the MIND Institute at UC Davis on Thursday afternoon. Dr. Hagerman is like the......Michael Jackson of Fragile X research. By that I mean, her impact on what we know about Fragile X Syndrome and our progress towards a cure is monumental. She and her husband, Paul, founded the National Fragile X Foundation which is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year and they have committed their lives to this work. I am thrilled to be taking Austin to see her!
Unfortunately, it requires a 5 hour ride on a plane to get there :( Austin has never been on a plane so I am a little bit nervous, to say the least. So....I ask that if you are reading this, you say a little prayer for us not only for safe travel but for stress-FREE travel. That should cover anything that could happen, right? If you want to get specific, pray for no tears (from baby or mommy), no delays, no turbulance, short waits, friendly staff and passengers, lots of smiles, and perfect weather! And if you think of anything else, throw that in, too :)
We drive to Atlanta tomorrow and fly out early Tuesday morning. We are scheduled to depart at 8:45AM. We'll start the tour home on Saturday, July 4th.
