I have to get used to this not working thing…I am not the type of person to just sit around and do nothing…Though I have no real option since I have no car (it’s in the shop) and no internet (I’m at Starbucks now). So I have been watching A LOT of TV and obsessively cleaning and recleaning my house. I hope the baby comes soon; I don’t know how many more days of ‘Supernanny’ reruns I can handle before I run out of Clorox wipes I won’t know what to do with myself!
I do feel as is it can be any day now and it’s driving me MAD! I am now going to the doctor once a week and last Thursday I was told I was already having contractions. Apparently they are the Braxton Hicks contractions every pregnant woman gets but still I had no idea I was having them. Here is how the visit went:
The doctor asked me if I had been feeling any contractions and as soon as I said “nope” he said, “That’s funny because you’re having one right now.” WHHHHAT? “Is it weird that I never feel them?” I asked and he said “oh sure , you may not feel them now and that’s completely normal. But you definitely will feel them when it’s labor.” OH GOODY! I can’t wait!!!
Apparently I have been having them all along and I would just assume it was the baby giving a good long kick or push…I’ve learned that a CONTRACTION makes your tummy feel hard as a rock and that feeling usually lasts about 1 minute and they go away if you change positions (Didn’t know you’d be getting a lesson in Braxton Hicks contractions today did you?).
I called my Mom today and she is READY to throw a bag in the car and drive like a bat out of hell to get here before the baby’s born. “CALL ME as soon as you feel that first contraction or your water breaks!!” She’s taking a leave of absense for two weeks but can’t really leave till I do actually go into labor. She thinks the baby will be here by the end of the week. We’ll see, it’s starting to really freak me out that it could be any day now! It’s a long drive from Portland to Tahoe so I hope the timing does work out in our favor and she can be here for the birth.
Anyway, that’s a little update. Overall, I feel good and ready to be done being pregnant. Ready to be a parents? We don’t quite know yet. Though I know any anxious feelings will go away once Baby Hazel is here.
I love you and I hope that everything is going great with you!!
Hugs,
Abby
