Our little boy, Carter keeps growing so fast. We can’t believe he is a year and a HALF now! He is starting to gain more and more independence and his little personality is starting to shine through. He is so amazing and entertaining to watch as he tries to figure out everything and see what’s inside or behind everything! He is a fun, happy, full of energy little toddler with no signs of the terrible twos yet (cross our fingers, knock on wood).
We continued another session of the Friday Play Group since he seemed to enjoy it so much- plus he always naps so well after any activity with tons of kids running around. It’s been great for mom to meet new local moms too.
Carter has also taken a few swim classes this summer which has been great. This class is different from last years and is teaching him valuable swim and safety lessons. He climbs into and out of the pool holding on to the edge, he’s starting to do short underwater dives, and of course basic kicking and floating and just having fun in a pool. It’s been great having the pool heated at 95’F with all the foggy mornings we’ve been having.
And for the past three weeks, Carter has also been going to a music class, Musical Me. It seems to be pretty popular in the Bay Area. Carter LOVES this class. It’s cute seeing the kids change their mode of play based on the music being played. They get very quiet during a slow, soft song, and then they get worked up and run around laughing and screaming when a fun, fast song comes on. It’s been great seeing his personality come out in this class, especially since most of the kids are familiar and he’s comfortable with everyone around.
Carter took his first plane ride in June to go visit his sister and attend her high school graduation. He did pretty good and was fairly occupied by the Baby Einstein DVD’s we brought for him to watch. Both trips to and from, Carter didn’t end up falling asleep until the last few minutes of the flight. It worked out since it was nice having him sleeping while we gathered the luggage and rental car.
Every day Carter surprises us with a new expression or creative use of a toy. We love hearing him babble and point out things he knows. He even plays hide and seek running around the corner shouting “Boo”. Dog and Ball are his favorite things to point out. We’ve also been working on the sign language since interpreting his words is still a bit difficult. He tells us more, milk, eat, drink, bath time, all done and we’re working on Help. It’s really cute hearing him make all his animal sounds too. My favorites to hear him say are duck (gua-gua), rooster (cock-doo), and cat (soft mee-oww). Too cute! He continues to LOVE fruit, as well as French fries and pasta. And his favorite programs are still on the Sprout channel- Caillou and Zaboomafoo (Boo, as Carter likes to say).
We hope everyone is doing well and apologize for not staying up on maintaining Carter’s baby site. Already a month into the next update and there’s so much to share…but you’ll have to wait. Take care everyone and hope to see you all soon.
Love,
