Ryan was 20 weeks yesterday. We celebrated with a little cuddling and moblie time. Topped it all off with a prune juice/milk bottle and went to bed!
Our 4 month appointment was a few weeks ago. Ryan weighed in at exactly 13lbs and was in the 10-25th percentile for his actual age. His head was in the 5th percentile, and at 25 inches, he's in the 50th percentile for height. He continues to be tall and skinny, just like his daddy! He is hitting his milestones between his actual and adjusted age The doctor fully expects him to be "caught up" by one year, which is outstanding given that preemies usually take two years to catch up to full-term babies! He is supporting himself with his legs and even "steps" forward every once in awhile. I think this little guy is going to walk pretty early!
Perhaps the most exciting news is that Ryan has been officially cleared of the apnea monitor. After weeks of frustration, we finally have given the machine back to the company for good. He has not had a single apnea incident since February 3rd and is doing very well!
Things are finally starting to be "normal" around here. Ryan is gaining weight like a champ (we have an appointment tomorrow for his RSV shot and we're worried he'll be too big for the amount we have left!). His reflux is well controlled with his medicine. He has the most beautifully expressive blue eyes. He smiles and laughs at the same silly things every day. Seeing him smile melts my heart.
He is a huge fan of his new play gym (purchased as a post-shot treat!), his precious planet mobile (best $50 I've ever spent), and the monkey that hangs on his car seat. He loves to be in the bathtub and has started kicking and splashing. He also seems to think it's funny when I yell at the puppies, which I suspect will be a problem in the future! :)
On Saturday we're participating in the March for Babies (March of Dimes) and we're very excited. We are walking in honor of Ryan and in memory of Rebecca Ann Roberts, who was born an angel at 18w1d. Also in our hearts that day will be Garrett and Lucy Anderson, who have just recently begun their NICU journey but are making progress every day! We are truly blessed that Ryan has only had a few issues related to his prematurity and we are thankful for all that the March of Dimes has done to help.
