When Tommy got his iPod from his Bobby Dad last May for his birthday, I was very worried he would lose it. Tommy loses everything, two lunch bags this year, and two winter coats (I know, coats are big, how is it possible?). I found an AP to download that says, "IF FOUND" and you can put in your contact information and a reward. At the time, the iTouch was new and costs $250, I thought a reward of $50 would perhaps keep someone from not returning it.
Tommy lost his iPod, only we did not know it was lost because it was probably for mere minutes. He dropped it running up our front walk from the bus - then that evening, one of our neighbors (two homes down from us), knocks on our door, he found the iPod on our grass. Guy answered the door, we were all at the gym, Guy says, oh, thank you and then the guy, putters and paused and says, okay, with the big arm shrug and all.
When I got home, Guy tells me, "the 30 something year old that lives in their basement and comes out only to walk the dog, found Tommy's ipod." He may have been looking for a reward. I tell him about the AP and he says, well you better go pay him then. Err. Guy thinks the man/boy maybe is not fully functioning, so I said okay.
I first sent Tommy there with 5, $10 bills and no answer, then the next day, I'm driving up to my mail box when I see the 60 something year old Dad in the driveway, so I pulled up and said, I think your older son found my child's ipod, and he says, yes, he found that thingie that said he would get a reward - and I said, yes, that's why I'm here, I have the money and I give it to him and he counts it and shoves it in his pocket and says thanks!
Here is my issue, one, they are neighbors, two, it WAS ON OUR PROPERTY and we would have found it - no one but them walks by our house, they do this because we are the corner lot and they think it's their dogs own personal park! I've had other neighbors call me and say, hey, you won't believe where "she" is walking her dog, yep, right up my walk and on my front lawn, err. She picks it up if you see her, if not, she leaves the poop and if the dog poops on the lawn near the street, well, that gets left as well. The good news? She is now, walking her mutt across the street from us and not rounding my corner 5 x's a day! Yeah, Guy said, if it keeps her from walking by and letting her dog go all over our yard, it was well worth the $50.00! Ah, but then, it snowed and I was outside at 6am shoveling so Tommy could keep dry and I see the little feet marks next to the dog paws in the snow. Aparently, it's okay for her to walk by at 5am if she can do it without being caught.
I'm guessing she has relocated her walks because she is aware it was wrong to take Tommy's money! If they would have said, oh no, that's okay, I would have insisted on giving them $20-30 but really, $50 for finding something on my own property? I have changed his iPod, Reward is now $25 and on mine, it just says "Reward."
