The surgery scheduler called me at 9:36 this morning and told me to be at the hospital at 2:30 and Nat would be having surgery at 4:30 as long as the anesthesiaologist thought it would be ok with her heart. We went in at 2:30 and they took us to the surgery floor about 5 minutes later and we started on the paper work. John had to go down and get her registered. The anesthesiaologist came in and told us that he thought everything would go smooth. That they weren't even going to put an iv in unless something went wrong. 90% of the time with cardiac patients if something goes wrong under anesthesia it is the heart. Then they would have to put an iv in and administer drugs to stable out her heart. But that was only if. They took her back at 4:20. That was the hardest thing to do to hand my child over to the nurse and she started crying when they took her away. But we went to the waiting room and they called and let us know they started the surgery at 4:27 and the doctor came in at 4:43. He said everything went great. As soon as he touched the scalpel to her ear to make the incision blood and puss came out bad. That is why she was in so much pain. He said if her ear canals were any smaller they wouldn't have fit in her ears. But they did and it is a tight fit so they should stay in there for a while. We got to go back and see her when she woke up which was about 5 minutes later and she was very upset. She drank some pedialyte and then we gave her a bottle. She did get sick but that was because she was so upset. They took us to her room and hour later and she was being silly and then went off to sleep. She slept for a long time. The doctor told us that she did so good that we could go home that night. We got to leave at 9:30. She was happy all the way home and was ready for bed when she got here. Thank God everything went ok. He is always in charge and always taking care of his people!
