Hello friends and family,
This past week was a week of minor boo boo's for our little man. On Monday when Amber took JB to daycare, she was about to leave and JB fell into a bookcase cutting his lip (See pictures in Photo album). The cut wasn't too bad, but it was our first boo boo with blood. Then earlier today (Sunday), when Amber and I went into JB's room to get him up from his nap, he got excited and jumped up and down on his mattress and his mouth caught the edge of his crib. This time, his top gums were cut and bled a little. Neither event was a major medical emergency, but just a small taste of what is to come I'm sure. I guess he is falling in his Dad's and his uncle Nick's footsteps because we were both pretty accident prone as kids...Nick much more so than me, but none the less, I had my fair share of injuries.
The past week wasn't too eventful. Thursday, Amber took JB to the doc to get his second and final round of the seasonal flu vaccine. Other than one more shot for his second and final round of H1N1, JB is done with shots until his first birthday. Speaking of his first birthday, and I can't believe I am about to type this, his first birthday is less than two months away! Geez! Yesterday JB was 10 months old. On January 14, 2010, we will be celebrating our little man turning one. I can't believe it!
On Friday night, we had dinner with friends and JB did really really well despite us not eating until 7:30. He usually goes to bed around 8, so for him to stay out an hour or so later than his bedtime and be happy, was great. To top it off, he slept all night and didn't wake up until 8:30 or so. I know Amber was happy about that.
Saturday night, I had my last Boys Club football game. We lost again, surprise surprise. We finished the season with a stellar 0-6 record. I guess I didn't inherit the football coaching skills from my Dad after all...sorry Dad. However, we had a great group of boys and I think they learned some things that they will carry with them down the road. After the game, we had a pizza party and said good riddance..I mean...goodbye to the 2009 season.
This morning, we hung around the house awhile and then we went to the Greenbelt walking trail to get some exercise. Both yesterday and today, it was in the low 70's, which is crazy for November, but we're not complaining. JB did pretty good on our walk today. When he would get fussy, Amber would give him "puffs" to eat. She usually pours a hand full or so in his stroller tray. As we were walking, we noticed JB carefully picking up the puffs one by one and sticking his arm over the end of his stroller and dropping them on the ground. He was either trying to feed the wildlife, or leave a trail back to the car like the characters from an often told children's story.
Tonight we went to KFC to get some dinner. JB had a few bites of mashed potatoes and seemed to enjoy them a lot. They told us a daycare last week that he had half of a cheese sandwich as well. So, his food resume is getting much more diverse. Still no walking, but he is crawling around like crazy. We all played in the floor tonight after dinner. At one point JB was holding his bat in one hand with a small basketball in his other hand and a plastic football at his feet, so we had the three major sports covered in our play.
Amber just gave JB a bath and I can hear her putting him to bed right now. He's not going down without a fight! We are looking forward to a great week at work. Next weekend, we may go in to see my family and to take some fall pictures on my grandparent's farm. Speaking of pictures, yesterday we took our Christmas pictures at Olan Mills. We had some cards made up, so look for the Christmas cards in a mailbox near you around the second week of December. We also sent out some of JB's 9 month pictures this weekend as well. He's probably the most photographed 10 month old child in America, but we can't help ourselves. He's our little man and we love him!!!
Have a great week and we will update again when we are able.
All of our love,
Adam, Amber, JB, and Matteo
