| | | | kowai!! (I'm scared!) Date: 07/15/2007This morning Kana was eating breakfast sitting in her high chair. We tell her not to do this, but she loves to stand up on the chair and sit on the arm rest. She sometimes bounces in that position, and it's really dangerous. We have warned her that she would fall and hit her head if she did that, but she never listened to us.
So she was playing on her chair as usual and this morning it happened. She lost her balance and fell back with her legs still wrapped around the arm rest. Matt immediately extended his hand and caught her head so she was safe, but she was SCARED!!
She patted her chest and breathed rapidly (that's what she does when she is scared of something) and said for the first time, "Kowai!!!" She was so shocked that she kept saying the word. It wasn't the best situation when she first spoke this word, but Matt was pretty happy that she got that word down.
Now she can say these words; "wan-wan" (meaning a dog), "nyao-nyao" (meaning cat), "gah-gah" (when she sees other animals), "bye-bye", "boo-boo" (meaning a car), "clock," "ma-ma" (mom), "pa-pa" (dad), "pie-pie" (my breast), "night-night" (good night), "itai-itai" (ouch, ouch), "what's that?", "hey," "no" (shaking head), "Hi" (meaning "yes" or "here you go"), "ball," and "bug" (she hates them).
She can also sign for different things like; "delicious," "please" and book" (they are both similar or the same, so we have to figure out which one she really means), "let's play," "I pooped," "milk," "eat," "brush teeth," and "I'm scared."
She seems to understand many things we say now. She can follow directions like "Put it away" (she does it singing the nursery "clean up" song), "give it to daddy," and so on. She seems to be always listening to what we say, even when we are not talking to her. We really need to be careful of what we say from now on.
Funny thing she does is when she sees a dog, she points at it, says "wan-wan," and imitates it by sticking her tongue out and breathing rapidly. It's kind of cute when she does that everytime we change her diaper since it has 101 Dalmatians on it.
When she does something funny or good in front of Matt, he tells me about the story. Kana loves to join in and starts speaking gibberish and end it with a big smile. It's funny because sometimes we understand what she's saying. That's also really cute thing about her.
I think she can do more, but this is all I can remember for now. |
