Well, Brady and Austin have come down with a slight stomach bug. They're in good spirits, but our bathroom has had better days. Austin stayed home from school today. He asked to stay home, but he never mentioned not feeling well. He just said "school is fun, but being home is more fun". We let it slide today because of the unusual poo, and because it is a very rare request. So, Austin officially played hookey.
Brady has been struggling in 3 of his 4 responsibilities. He has problems with poop, naps, and eating. But, on the bright side, his personality took a 180 degree turn. In this past week, he's gone from cranky all day to pretty content and smiley. He chatted up the plastic frog in the mall play area (that Austin and I went to today). More sounds came from him than I've heard in his entire life --screetches, bursts, squeels and barks. Given that he took only three 1/2 hour naps today (woke at 6am) and only ate every 5 1/2 hours, I'd say it is a miracle that he is so happy. He sat like a little angel on Chris's lap while we were out to dinner tonight.
Austin was also sweet today. He gave us a bit of a reprieve from the constant "you're not the boss of me" statements we've been getting over the last two weeks. He was genuinely go-with-the-flow, sat and worked on projects willingly with an impressive attention span, and remembered his manners through the day. His new long days at school have gotten him into a habit of resting from 1:30-2:00, and by following that same rhythm at home, we seem to have reintroduced the nap (hopefully). He fell asleep during quiet time today, and woke up renewed and refreshed! On the way home from dinner he said, "let's play a number game... who can say the biggest number?"... Then, without taking a breath screamed "infinity! I win!". Ah, the competition stage, so fun.
Kindest Regards,
The Love Family
