I know, I know...... long overdue !! The girls turned 2 and the summer just flew by. Next thing I know it's the week of Halloween.
We spent a lot of time at the beach this summer. The girls love the beach ! They try to build sand castles, look for shells and even touch jelly fish...ewww. They still are nervous when RJ carries them into the ocean but they will sit at the edge if we sit with them. They also liked to be held as the wave is breaking. They get a kick out of that.
They are not fully potty trained yet. I think I need to start working on that. Lyla is doing good, she goes on the potty pretty often. Even when she does a little pee she will get up and run to tell Daddy "I poopied on the potty" I have to keep telling her "No Lyla, you pee peed on the potty" It's cute though b/c she gets so excited. The girls have a potty training book with stars so whenver they go on the potty they get a star. If they go at school they get the star from me when they get home. After Lyla is done she does go to the kitchen for her "star book". Then all of a sudden Julie "has to" go potty b/c she wants a star. The only problem is she will sit but not go. Off the top of my head I think she only has 3 or 4 stars. Lyla has quite a bit more. They will get there.
Lyla has officially been discharged from her neurologist. He said that even though her head is still in the 90% range, it has been in the 90% range all along and he no longer sees and issue - she just has a big head. Neurologically she is doing great, great tone -reflexes. He was happy to see her climbing on a chair with no problem. One more specialist to go and then we are free and clear. The girls still have to go to ITAP (Infant Toddler Assessment Program) for evaluations to make sure they continue to stay on track. We go back in December and then the last one will be June 2010 when they turn 3. Boy I can't wait for that final visit.
They are talking up a storm. Lyla has conversations with us, it blows my mind. One day she came to me while I was on the computer and went to give me something.. it went like this
Lyla: Here Mommy
Me: Oh not right now Lyla, give Mommy 2 seconds I am on the computer
Lyla: Ok maybe not.
I almost fell on the floor.... she used that phrase in context. She comes out with some of the funniest things. I am sure that every parent says this about their kids but I am truly enjoying watching her learn. Julie has also started talking a bunch more than she did. She loves to sing so does Lyla but Julie will sit and play by herself and sing to herself. I love it ! Twinkle Twinkle is one of their favorites right now.
We took the girls and Alyssa pumpkin picking last weekend and had a blast. They loved the petting zoo. They fed and pet chickens and goats. They also pet piggies. They saw a donkey and went on a pony ride. They were really good on the hay ride and forget it when it came time to go through the pumpkins. So much different than last year. Last year they weren't walking on their own. Lyla did cruise a bit on the hay and Julie would not let me put her down. She wanted no business with being on the ground. This year we couldn't keep up with them. We also saw a set of quads that had to be about a year old. It was a bit surreal because that could have been me and RJ.
So, for halloween the girls are going to be salt and pepper. I made their costumes again this year. Lyla is salt and Julie is pepper. I even made them little grey hats with black dots on the top to look like the shaker top. I will get some pics up after halloween.
Well... I think that about covers it... Hopefully I won't wait so long to update again.
