Ben is two months old today and he has had an exciting past few weeks! October started out with a vacation for Ben and his mommy and daddy. We went up to Chippewa Falls in northern Wisconsin for a long weekend. While there Ben had his first night stay in a hotel, his first time "swimming" (he only got his feet wet), his first hike, first brewery tour (Leinenkugel's was visited on two separate occasions), and most importantly his first time visiting another state.
The next weekend was just as exciting as he started his Friday out getting to stay home all day with dad while his mom went to work for the first time on over 6 weeks. (I am back to working on Fridays while Mike is home with Ben until I go back full time on November 30th.) All went great, and as soon as mom got home the weekend adventure started. Ben got to visit Alton,IL where his parents' romance began at dental school 5 years ago. Our friends Chris and Emily were married on October 10th and had their reception at the location of our engagement at Pere Marquette State Park. Early the next morning we headed off to great-grandma's house where Ben went to his first baby shower thrown for his soon to be born cousin baby boy Cromwell. Later that day he got to attend the annual cider squeeze followed by the weinie roast at great-grandma Frances's house. Maybe next year he will get to help in making the cider and roasting a hot dog.
The following weekend we had lots of visitors at our house to attend Ben's baptism at St. John's Catholic Church by Fr. Anthony Co. Ben was a perfect boy and especially enjoyed the water on his head (his favorite part of bath time is when his dad washes his hair). Ben used the blanket his great-grandpa Al used at his baptism, the same gown his grandma Rose when she was baptized and the same cloth to dry his head as his mom used at her baptism. We were so happy to have our families there to celebrate this special day with us.
Lastly, Ben had his 2-month doctor visit on Friday and everything is great. He now weighs 13 lbs 5 oz and is 23.5 inches. He got 3 vaccinations in his legs. While he did start crying immediately, it was all made better by a big hug from dad.
Ben is such a joy and blessing in our lives. He has been very giggly and smiley lately and is starting to make a lot of noises. He does very well riding in the car and at church, and loves getting attention from all his relatives.
