| | | Grant Patrick Robinson Arrives Date: 03/03/2007 On Saturday March 3, 2007 I had been up most of the night before with some pains but nothing was regular enough to think I was in labor. Then around 4 pm. We decided to go to the park. My parents were in town and my mother and I walked to the park while Carter, Dan and my brother Sean rode there bikes. On the way I started having contractions 8 minutes apart. We decided to go home. Once I got home, I had contractions 5 minutes apart and my father who luckily was in town visiting said, you eyes are tearing up, you need to go to the hospital. I was worried that the hospital would tell me I was not far enough along but since I was having major back labor I knew something must be going on. So Dan and I left and got to the hospital around 5:30. I'm so glad we did because my contractions were now 3 to 4 minutes apart. The nurse checked me and said that I was 6 centimeters and was in labor. The midwife I was suppose to have could not make it so my neighbor was there and happened to be the doctor on call. Dr. Soto who had delivered his son the day before was going to deliver the baby. Anyway, I told the nurses the second I got there that I was going to need an epidural. Well, since it was a small hospital, the anestiologist is not in the hospital but is on call. He did not arrive until 9:00. By then, my contractions were 2 minutes apart and I was in major pain. I ended up having to wait 20-30 more minutes for the epidural since they made you wait on blood work. After the epidural, they checked me and broke my water. I was nine centimeters and almost ready to push. Once they told me it was time to push, it only took about 5 minutes. Then at 9:55 pm, baby Grant Patrick arrived. Screaming!! He weighed 7lbs. 10 oz. was 21 inches long. I thank God that he was a healthy baby and that he was three weeks early since he was such a big boy.Kindest Regards, The Robinson Family |
