Well people, we made it! After the marathon vacation at 'Club Del' in Illinois & a little hop over the pond to Oslo, Norway, we have arrived at our new home. And what a home it is! Jay did good! We love our gorgeous yellow house with the front porch! A month into our Virginia experience & we're finally feeling moved in. Still lots of organizing & fine tuning to do (you know me!) but feeling like home now. Blacksburg is beautiful - there are mountains all around, rolling hills with horses grazing & lots of trees...that are just starting to turn the most fabulous fall colors. It's quite a change moving to a small town from the hustle & bustle of San Antonio, but I have a feeling we'll adjust just fine.
Josh has just started preschool & goes 3 days a week. He's doing great so far & has made a couple friends at school already. He just went on his first field trip this morning to the VT botanical garden & had a fun time. Josh is getting tall & super strong & loves to help out by carrying heavy things for us - like gallons of milk or the garbage can that is twice his size. He has learned how to write his name & is a lefty just like Mom. He's still trying to figure out how to hold that pencil & doesn't quite have the left-handed hook. Josh loves to do mazes & hidden pictures. He still loves monster trucks. He loves to push Sydney in the stroller, shopping cart & wagon. He vies for Mama's attention & tends to not know his own strength when dealing with Sydney. I can't wait for the day when she can hold her own around him!
Sydney is just the cutest little thing! At 15 months she took her first steps (just like her brother) & she's been practicing ever since. She still prefers crawling most times, but every day we see her walk a little farther than she had the previous day. Syd has a few words now too! Here's her repetoire: mo=more (both kids first word), bah bah=bye bye, ba=bear, Papa & Mama. She did say 'Monday' last week, but apparently it was a fluke. Syd LOVES her stuffed bear & MUST sleep with him every night & nap...& apparently must go with her to 'mother's morning out' as we found out last Friday when she cried for an hour until someone gave her a 'lovey.' Syd is adjusting great to 2 mornings away from Mama & Mama is enjoying the opportunity to do dishes & laundry uninterrupted.
Jay is busy with his first semester of schooling at Virginia Tech. He's getting his PhD in Human Factors Engineering. Ask him what it means - I know it's something about ergonomics & design...I think! He's also doing a HUGE army course via correspondence. We'll be glad when that's done! Maybe we'll see him a little more around here! :)
I'm trying to keep our new house from getting trashed by the tiny tornadoes that seem to touch down on a daily basis. I'm also trying to get back into shape & am trying to get to some yoga classes when Jay can spare the time from his schedule.
There is a new photo album to check out & if any of you are on Facebook - there are photos posted there as well!
Thanks for checking in with us!
Love & Health,
The Clasing Family
